LMHOF News Release 6-8-2009

                                          NOTE-WORTHY NEWS

From The Louisiana Music Hall of Fame - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 8, 2009

Executive Advisory Board Growing for La. Music Hall of Fame Effort

A former Louisiana governor and secretary of state, as well as two sitting district attorneys have been announced as the

latest additions to an advisory group supporting the growing Louisiana Music Hall of Fame project. In the past two weeks,

former Gov. David Treen, former Secretary of State Jim Brown, St. Tammany and Washington Parish District Attorney

Walter Reed and St. Landry Parish District Attorney Earl Taylor were added to the growing list of supporters

appointed to the Executive Advisory Board of the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame under the auspices of La Musique de

Louisianne, Inc., the nonprofit organization driving the effort.  “Gov. Treen demonstrated his own unique singing talent at

one of our induction concerts last year,” said Executive Director Mike Shepherd. “I don’t think we can expect a hit record

from him anytime soon, but I greatly appreciate the support and input from him and others to keep moving us in the

right direction.”Reed, a longtime music appreciator, and Taylor, a former member of John Fred and His Playboy Band,

were presented with acceptance plaques at the district attorneys’ legislative picnic on June 2 in Baton Rouge by

Mike Shepherd, executive director of the nonprofit group.

The Louisiana Music Hall of Fame has already launched as an Internet based “virtual museum” at www.LMHOF.org

with more than 4,000 images and music files profiling 36 music notables that have been inducted to date.

The latest inductee, Little Richard, was announced and presented with his Induction Award signed by Gov. Bobby

Jindal last Saturday in New Orleans at the “Domino Effect” benefit concert held in tribute of Fats Domino.

Domino, who has already been inducted, joined Richard backstage with Shepherd after the show to congratulate

him and reminisce about the “golden days” of New Orleans rock and rhythm hits. -More-Advisory Board

The Louisiana Music Hall of Fame plans to induct more than 100 additional music hit makers and pioneers associated with the state, and to provide special recognition to regional favorites and to luminaries in songwriting, producing and recording.  The group also envisions physical exhibits and a raft of educational and promotional activities and programs advancing its mission as the program progresses. The executive advisory board members provide advice and support for the organization pledged to preserve Louisiana’s unparalleled music legacy to the world and to promote the advancement and continuation of its music industry.
